The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has raised concerns over a proliferation of online advertisements for small portable air conditioners, deeming their prominent claims of rapid cooling capabilities to be unsubstantiated.
Many of these adverts have been circulating across various internet platforms, promoting compact devices with bold promises about their efficiency in lowering room temperatures.
Among the more striking claims highlighted by the watchdog were assertions that these portable units could cool a room in as little as '90 seconds.'
However, the ASA has concluded that such claims were ultimately 'too good to be true,' suggesting that the advertised performance does not align with the actual capabilities of the devices.
This finding serves as a reminder to consumers to approach marketing claims for such products with caution, particularly when they appear to offer unusually fast or powerful results for their size and price point.
